AWDA Common Product Data Requirement
AWDA Announces a Single requirement for Product Information
The Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) has announced a Minimum Common Requirement for product information that will satisfy the product data needs of most members. Based upon the aftermarket standard for exchanging product information – PIES – the AWDA specification is boiled down to include only the most relevant information needed by typical WD operations.
AWDA Chairman, Willi Alexander explained, “we chose to be part of the solution and reduce the number of data requirements that our suppliers have to satisfy”. Major programs distribution groups and independent warehouse distributors have agreed on product information requirements that are common to all of their business operations.
The newest release, Release 2, of the AWDA PIES 6.4-Based Minimum Common Requirements is available for download. Release 2 was updated on 2/24/2012 with minor documentation corrections: reference to the PIES appendices and comment box expansion. The available packet reflects the updated date for Release 2. The current release, Release 2, supersedes all previous releases.
